Incident Summary: On 06-29-17, at approx. 6:11 PM hours, the Lake Superior Drug and Violent Crime Task Force (LSDVCTF) attempted to arrest Wersal at a gas station in Hibbing, MN on several felony warrants including, felon in possession of a firearm and multiple drug offenses.
Wersal fled the scene in a vehicle and then led authorities on a pursuit, which went into Itasca and Koochiching Counties before ending in St. Louis County. During the course of the pursuit, speeds reached 90mph. Authorities were able to deploy tire deflation devices and utilized a Precision Immobilization Technique (P.I.T.) to disable the fleeing vehicle and subsequently take Wersal into custody. The pursuit traveled approx. 90 miles and lasted about 1 hour.
Wersal is currently being held in the St. Louis County Jail-Hibbing and will be arraigned on Friday, June 30, facing additional felony charges of 2nd degree assault, fleeing in a motor vehicle, and other drug and traffic offenses. No injuries were reported.
