Incident Summary:

On June 3rd, 2017 The St. Louis County Sheriff's Office, the Fond Du Lac Police Department and serval area EMS agencies responded to the call of possible carbon monoxide poisoning of two adults. Both Pamela Smith and Richard Smith were found inside their camper unresponsive. Despite rescue efforts by friends and first responders, both Pamela and Richard were pronounced dead at the scene. The cause of death appears to be carbon monoxide poisoning, but exact cause is under investigation by the Midwest Medical Examiner's Office. The source of the carbon monoxide appears to be a generator that was improperly placed in an unvented storage cabinet below the living space of the camper. The camper was equipped with a carbon monoxide detector that appears to have been working and sounding during the incident.
