Incident Summary:

On May 27th, 2017 at 6:20 P.M. Jay Lehman reported that his wife Rachael Lehman had sent him some cell phone text messages telling him that she had become lost after she went hiking in the Boundary Waters Canoe Area (BWCA) near Angleworm Lake.  The Saint Louis County Volunteer Rescue Squad responded and sent in two search groups starting at the Angleworm Lake Parking lot off of the Echo trail.  The rescue squad located Rachael at 11:40 P.M. on the east side of Angleworm Lake which is approximately 4 miles away from the Angleworm Lake parking lot.  The rescue squad reported that the terrain on the east side of the lake was heavily overgrown and very difficult to maneuver in.  Rachael was assisted back to the parking lot and transported by the Ely ambulance to the Ely Bloomenson hospital with possible hypothermia.
