Seven deputies, 10 corrections officers sworn in

Seven new St. Louis County deputy sheriffs and 10 new corrections officers were officially sworn in during a ceremony Friday at the Public Safety Building in Duluth. New staff serving as court security, 911 emergency communications, and clerical, plus three new chaplains also were recognized along with recent promotions and awards for outstanding service.

Ten new corrections officers were sworn in Friday. Shown L-R are: Jamie Berg, Joseph Bradac, Dustin Carlson, Matthew DeMarco, Noah Johnson, Brandon Kangas, Amanda Maruca, Erick Olsen, Dante Pettinari and Liya Vinnik.

Special recognition was given to Deputies Miles Bruggman, Amber Campbell and Ryan Taggart for their quick actions that saved the life of a man who'd slashed his throat.

Special recognition was given to Deputies Mike McDougall and Ben Fye, along with K-9 Diesel, for their apprehension of the man who'd run through a Proctor neighborhood firing a semi-automatic weapon.
