Incident Summary:

On April 3, 2017 at approximately 3:00 PM, the St. Louis County Sheriff's Office, along with members from the French Township Fire and First Responders, Chisholm Ambulance Service, and St. Louis County Rescue Squad, were dispatched to Side Lake in French Township regarding an ATV that had gone through the ice. The lone male operator, Joseph Rosc, was treading water.  Members of the French Fire Department were able to safely rescue Rosc from the water.  Rosc was transported by ambulance to UMCM (Hibbing Hospital) for evaluation and treatment.  Rosc was attempting to ice fish at the time of the incident.

The St. Louis County Sheriff's Office urges outdoor enthusiasts to stay off the ice this time of year as ice conditions are deteriorating rapidly.
