Incident Summary:

On April 1st 2017 at approximately 05:40 A.M. the St. Louis County Sheriff's Office received a report of a two vehicle head on crash with injuries, on the 6300 block of Hwy 21 in Pike Township. Information was that one vehicle was sitting in the middle of the road and the other had left the roadway into the ditch, before rolling onto it's side. The driver of the rolled vehicle was trapped and had to extricated by rescue personnel.  Both vehicles were only occupied by the drivers, who were transported to Virginia Regional Medical Center - Essentia by Virginia Ambulance, and ultimately to Essentia St. Mary's in Duluth for treatment of their serious injuries.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation by the sheriff's office, with assistance from the Minnesota State Patrol.
