Service of Deputy and his colleagues to be highlighted for County Board
In the spring of 2006, a young Marine Sergeant from Gilbert, Scott Hirsch, stood before the County Board, which was meeting in his hometown, and led the pledge of allegiance. Hirsch had recently returned from Iraq and was invited by Commissioner Keith Nelson to talk with the Board about his experiences and future plans, which included pursuing a career in law enforcement.
Fast forward to the present. The next St. Louis County Board meeting will be held in Gilbert on January 24 at 9:30 a.m., and Hirsch, whose title is now St. Louis County Deputy Sheriff Scott Hirsch, will again lead the pledge. Immediately following, he and Sheriff Ross Litman will give a brief presentation to the Board about the work and responsibilities of the Sheriff's Office and patrol deputies. Hirsch has worked as a deputy for almost eight years, and is based out of the Mountain Iron office.
The presentation is in keeping with this year's "Chair's Initiative". Board Chair Frank Jewell wishes to highlight positive examples of the public service and community service being done everyday throughout the County.
