Rail crossing repairs postponed at intersection of Highways 7 and 101

Scheduled maintenance work has been postponed a week on the railroad crossing at the intersection Highway 7 and Highway 101 west of Eveleth. This means the intersection, which previously was scheduled to close today, is open.

The three day project instead will take place next week, affecting the intersection from December 5-7. The CN Railroad is replacing the crossing surface. The work had to be delayed because of unforeseen scheduling conflicts with other track projects.

During the project next week, vehicles traveling north or south on Highway 7 will be able to make a right turn only at the intersection. These vehicles will not be able to go through or make a left turn. Meanwhile, the intersection will be completely closed to vehicles traveling east and west on Highway 101.

A detour will be posted for traffic on Highway 7. Drivers should use an alternate route during the closure.
