Celebration marks completion of Super Sidewalk, other projects
Seventh graders from Marshall School in Duluth helped celebrate in a memorable way the completion of the new Super Sidewalk that begins near their school. Rather than a traditional ribbon cutting, the students raced up the hill through the ribbon, demonstrating the value of this project that runs adjacent to the busy Rice Lake Road.
The new path is open to pedestrians, bicyclists, inline skaters and any other form of human-powered transportation.
St. Louis County hosted the celebration to mark the completion of the Super Sidewalk, as well as two other projects involving this road: the new intersection and signal at Rice Lake Road and Airport Road, and the resurfacing of 12 miles of the Vermilion Trail between Island Lake and the Whiteface Reservoir. Rice Lake Road and the Vermilion Trail together make up part of County State Aid Highway 4, which runs from Duluth to Biwabik.
Additional information on the three projects can be found in this earlier news release. To learn more about these or any other St. Louis County road construction project, or to sign up for email updates, visit stlouiscountymn.gov/construction.
