Gary Eckenberg honored for 39 years of work for St. Louis County
Gary Eckenberg, St. Louis County Deputy Administrator of Governance and Policy, is retiring Friday, October 28, after nearly 40 years of service to the citizens of St. Louis County. In recognition of his years of tremendous service, the County Board issued a proclamation declaring this Gary Eckenberg Week in St. Louis County.
Additionally, in recognition of his service to the City of Duluth - Eckenberg was appointed to the City Council on two separate occasions, and has volunteered his time with several non-profit organizations - Duluth Mayor Emily Larson also proclaimed October 28, 2016, as Gary Eckenberg Day in the City of Duluth.

Commissioners praised Eckenberg for being a great resource and phenomenal teacher who helped them follow proper procedures of governance. Eckenberg, meawhile, humbly summed up his contributions as "a cartoonist with a pretty good filing system."
