Active warrants list now available online

In St. Louis County right now, there are more than 1,000 active warrants for people wanted for felony or gross misdemeanor crimes. The active warrants are now available for the public to view online at stlouiscountymn.gov/warrants.

The Sheriff's Office is publishing the list online both in the interest of public safety, and as a way to enlist the public's help in locating the individuals on the list.

The list is updated daily, and includes all active felony and gross misdemeanor level warrants created after December 5, 2011. Older warrants, along with juvenile, confidential and team-secured warrants, and the nearly 5,000 warrants for misdemeanor offenses are not included in the online search. The report includes the name, age, city and state of the offender’s most recent home address, their most recent mugshot if available, along with a short description of charges and other warrant details. Most warrants are for failure to appear at a court hearing or a probation violation.

If anyone knows where someone with a warrant is, they are advised to call 911, or the non-emergency line (218) 625-3581. They should not approach or try to apprehend someone on the list.

If someone finds their own name on the list, they can resolve the warrant by reporting to the courthouse where their case was heard during designated times. More information is available online at stlouiscountymn.gov/warrants.

A warrant is a court order to apprehend an individual. Arrest warrants are issued by the Courts, signed by Judges and entered into the State and Federal computers. The Sheriff's Office processes arrest warrants as required by state statute.
