Incident Summary:
St. Louis County Sheriff's Deputies engaged in a vehicle pursuit after a vehicle with no license plates was observed traveling in excess of 90 miles an hour west bound along Martin Road last evening. The vehicle was traveling directly through intersections and traffic control devices. The vehicle continued even after the initial attempt to have them stop. The driving conduct was considered an imminent threat to public safety.
The pursuit continued to Floodwood, Minnesota and eventually south bound along Hwy 73 into Carlton County, where a Carlton County Deputy was able to deploy a tire deflation device to bring the pursuit to an end. Other agencies assisting were the Floodwood Police, Hermantown Police, Minnesota State Patrol, and the Carlton County Sheriff's Office.
The driver was identified as Sean Patrick Saylor Jr. of Duluth. Saylor has a long history of police contact. The vehicle Saylor was driving was recently reported stolen from the City of Hermantown and had fled from Duluth Police Officers the previous evening.
Saylor was lodged at the St. Louis County Jail. The pursuit went for approximately 60 miles traveling from Canosia Township all the way to Carlton County.
