Incident Summary:
On 06/11/2016, at approx. 1:20 PM the St. Louis County Sheriff's Office received a report of badly decomposed human remains being found in the Little Fork River approx. 1/2 mile West of Cook, MN. Deputies responded to the scene as did personnel from the Midwest Medical Examiner's Office and confirmed the remains were that of a human body.
The remains were sent to the Midwest Medical Examiner's Office where an autopsy was conducted on 6/13/2016. The remains have been positively identified by the medical examiner's office as those of Jeremy Allen Morrell. Morrell was previously reported as a missing person to the Sheriff's Office and was last seen walking on foot in the City of Cook on March 29, 2016. The incident remains under investigation by the Sheriff's Office and cause of death is pending the results of the autopsy exam.
