The deadline for organizations to submit applications to fund community health projects in Steele County is this Friday, February 16th at noon! The Statewide Health Improvement Partnership (SHIP) supports community-driven projects that prevent chronic disease through active living, healthy eating, and commercial tobacco-free spaces. February is Children's Oral Health Month
This year, Governor Walz proclaimed February as Children's Oral Health Month in Minnesota, emphasizing the important impact that oral health has on your overall health. There are two nonprofit dental providers that offer oral health services to under- and un-insured children in Steele County:
Let's Smile, Inc. provides preventive oral health care and treatment at no cost for children up to age 19 on Medicaid or without insurance. Stay connected by following their Facebook!
Healthy Smiles, Inc. offers free preventive dental services onsite at Steele County Public Health to qualified children 0-14 years old on Medical Assistance or with no insurance.

Although this has not been a typical Minnesota winter, preparing for winter storms is always a good idea! Being #WinterReady means understanding winter risks you face and taking steps to prepare. Some of these risks include frostbite, hypothermia, unsafe driving conditions, and house heating fires. The good news is that you can reduce harm by preparing for these risks! Every two seconds, someone in the U.S. needs blood. To meet this need, SCPH is hosting a blood drive on Wednesday, March 6th, 9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. at the Steele County Community Center, 1380 S Elm Ave, Owatonna, MN.
To thank you for donating, the Red Cross will send $10 Visa Prepaid Cards by email to everyone who donates in March!
