The City of Shakopee's garbage hauler transition from Republic Services to Dick’s Sanitation Inc. (DSI) takes effect on Jan. 1, 2022.
The vast majority of garbage and recycling routes will remain the same with DSI in 2022. If changes to your route become necessary, residents will be notified in advance.
All residents must confirm their new refuse accounts by visiting www.ShakopeeMN.gov/DSI and completing the form.
Additionally, DSI has purchased the existing garbage and recycling carts owned by both the city and Republic Services. Residents who had a Republic Services bin may have noticed a DSI representative placing a DSI cart sticker on their bin in recent weeks, but the cart itself will not be swapped out.
Though weekly recycling is not an option at this time, residents can contact DSI at shakopee@dickssanitation.com or by calling 952-469-2239 to discuss getting a second recycling cart. For information about what DSI accepts in its recycling program, visit www.RecycleMN.org/what-we-sort.
