August 18: Full closure of 6th Street SE west of 3rd Avenue SE.

Mid-September: 2nd Street SW closure expands west to 14th Avenue SW, though the intersection will remain open for north-south traffic.
2nd Street SW Progress continues on the west end of the Link corridor with increased activity near St. Marys Hospital.

Full Closure: 2nd Street SW is now fully closed between 11th Avenue SW and 13th Avenue SW through the end of December. The segment between 11th and 12th Avenue SW is anticipated to reopen in late fall.

Upcoming Work: Crews are completing concrete removals at the 12th Avenue intersection, excavating down to the sanitary sewer for utility upgrades. Asbestos removal has been completed in preparation for upcoming building demolition activities. Watermain utility work will continue next week, along with the demolition of a building in the same area beginning Monday, August 18. The north parking lot (adjacent to Tinn’s) has been fenced off for cleanup work which is expected to take two to three days.

Traffic & Pedestrian Access: Traffic Control Flaggers and Rochester Police are helping to maintain safety. Pedestrian detours are in place and additional wayfinding including food pick-up and map signs were installed this week!

Sidewalk Impacts: Sidewalk replacement work continues along the south side of the Link corridor between 11th Avenue SE and the Mayo shuttle exit near 12th Avenue SE.

School Access: The construction management team is coordinating with area schools to maintain safe access routes as the school year approaches.

Businesses: Nearby businesses like Uni Uni Bubble Tea, Tinn's Philly Steak Subs, Thai-riffic, Canadian Honker, Francisco's, and Anderson Wheelchair will remain open during this time.
6th Street SE and 3rd Avenue SE Intersection
On the east end of the corridor, major work is progressing at the near 6th Street SE and 3rd Avenue SE.

Through mid-September: Crews are working on the east side of this intersection, maintaining one lane of traffic in each direction with travel lanes shifted toward the west curbline.

August 18: A full closure of 6th Street SE west of 3rd Avenue SE will begin, remaining in effect until early 2026. Temporary local access will be maintained for residents.
Mid-September–into 2026: Construction will shift to the west side of the intersection. One lane of traffic will be maintained in each direction shifted toward the east curbline.
