Mid-September: 2nd Street SW closure expands to 14th Avenue SW.
2nd Street SW
Progress continues on the west end of the Link corridor with increased activity near 2nd Street SW.

July 15–August 10: One-lane traffic in each direction is maintained between 11th and 13th Avenues SW. Crews continue to install storm sewer and are preparing the subgrade for additional aggregate base to be installed before the concrete road pavement is completed.

August 11: Full closure begins between 11th Avenue SW and 13th Avenue SW. This segment will remain closed through December, though 11th to 12th Avenue is expected to reopen in late fall.

Mid-September: Closure will expand west to 14th Avenue SW, though the intersection will stay open for north-south traffic.
Pedestrian routes and crossings remain open, with adjusted crosswalk locations to accommodate short-term sidewalk closures. Detour signage is in place to guide travelers safely through the area. For maps of the impacts and more information, please visit www.rochestermn.gov/link.
6th Street SE
On the east end of the corridor, significant work is now underway at the East Terminus location near 6th Street SE and 3rd Avenue SE. Led by Rochester Public Utilities (RPU), initial work includes critical utility upgrades that will continue into 2026.

July 28–mid-September: Crews are active on the east side of the intersection relocating electrical, gas and communication utilities. Other crews are installing storm sewer and watermain relocation. One lane of traffic in each direction is open, with lanes shifted west

August 18: A full closure of 6th Street SE west of 3rd Avenue SE begins. Local access will be maintained, and the closure will remain in effect until early 2026.

Mid-September–into 2026: Construction moves to the west side of the intersection. One-lane traffic in each direction will continue, with lanes shifted east.
Sidewalk Impacts Sidewalk work continues along the south side of the Link corridor between 11th Avenue SE and the shuttle exit near 12th Avenue SE. Crews are coordinating closely with area schools to maintain safe access as the school year approaches. Detours and signage will be in place to guide pedestrians around any temporary closures.

West Transit Village (Volume A) Work remains on track for completion by the end of August. Crews are finalizing the relocation of the Cascade Lake Trail, which is nearing completion.
Maintenance Bay Addition (Volume D) Construction of the new maintenance bay at the Public Works Transit and Operations Center (PWTC) is scheduled to begin in late September. More information to come!
