Live from Med City | Season 1, Episode 3
UNDER THE PAVILION

Premieres Thu Nov 19 @ 6 PM

Re-Broadcast Schedule: Thu Nov 19- Thu Nov 26 | 7 AM & 6 PM

Sponsored by Mayo Clinic & The Current

This show was recorded "live" in the summer of 2020 at Riverside Concerts' drive-in style "Car Park Concerts" in the 125 Live Community Center parking lot.

With 70's punk and garage band influences, Under the Pavilion's music features melodic guitar riffs, driving drums and loud bass! Founding members Pat Obert, guitar/lead vocals, and Adam Lien, bass, have been collaborating since college and released their first album, When We Started, February 2019. Joining them, Alex Smith on guitars and Alex Ortberg on drums, the group released a new single "Sixteenth Street" along with the B-Side "NASCAR" November 2019 in preparation for their second full length studio album. Following their album release the group signed on and began working with Merrifield Records created by Mike Hindert, bassist for The Bravery. Throughout the years the group has played with many notable groups including Har Mar Superstar, Bad Bad Hats and Yam Haus. Under the Pavilion continues to gig throughout the regional area as well as play local festival gigs such as Big Turn Music Fest and Thursday's on First.

Live from Med City collage

Riverside Concerts, the City of Rochester's music department, presents "Live from Med City", an online video digest of all things arts and entertainment in Rochester, MN.

The "Live from Med City" concept was conceived with the objective to spotlight the many “live arts experiences” Rochester (home of the world renowned Mayo Clinic) has to offer, featuring artists from around the block and from all over the world, and filmed in some of our finest and most unique venues. Focusing first on Riverside Concerts’ own presentations, but with an eye toward broadening the coverage to include presentations from other local organizations in the future.

The first leg of this virtual concert series includes an eclectic mix of genres and artists, from near and far, including Rochester's own Good Morning Bedlam (New Folk), Under the Pavilion (Indie Pop-Punk), and Steven J. Schmidt (Folk Singer-Songwriter); the Winona, MN based Karate Chop, Silence (Indie Funk-Rock); the Minneapolis based Lady Midnight (Hip-Hop/R&B); and Chicago's Dos Santos (LatinX).

Riverside Concerts’ General Manager Steven Schmidt said,

“Usually this time of year we’d be busy selling tickets to our indoor concert series at the Mayo Civic Center, the ‘Riverside Concerts Presents’ series, but the global pandemic has made that a risky venture this season, and the safety of our constituents, artists, and staff must take top priority. In the summer of 2020, we had to cancel our ‘Down by the Riverside’ and ‘forWARD’ concert series’ for the same reason, but the warm weather allowed us to provide alternative programming that was presented in a COVID-19 safe format; the drive-in style ‘Car Park Concerts’ at 125 Live, and the audience-less indoor shows for the 'Rochester Community Celebration' at the Mayo Civic Center. We live-streamed and/or recorded each of those shows, and while we had nice viewership for the live streams, we thought these amazing shows in these incredible venues really deserved more opportunities to be seen. It is these recordings, from this very unusual but rewarding summer of events, that make up this debut season of ‘Live from Med City’.”
