Down by the Riverside has been a major force,
for the last 26 years, in getting local musicians in front of large audiences
and in support of some pretty big names. It has been, and will continue to be,
a policy of the series to showcase local bands (from the 11 county Southeastern
Minnesota region which includes Rochester) for the free outdoor concert series.
This summer is no different with the likes of local favs like County Line Drive,
MM Jr., and Nite Shift. While The Morning Kings, Early Eyes, and The Heavy
Set are bands based out of the Twin Cities, they each have band members who reside
in Southeastern Minnesota. The Morning Kings currently have band members that grew up in Rochester, attended high school at Century and John
Marshall and still live in Rochester. You might remember
Henry James Patterson (from Red Wing) of Early Eyes from his solo performance
as opener for the rained out Lucius show of 2015. The Heavy Set have members who
have all lived in Rochester and some who currently live in Winona.
Local musicians opening up for the likes of Spin
Doctors, Dessa, Cassadee Pope, Living Colour, Pert Near Sandstone, and Burton
Cummings, the singer/songwriter of the hits of The Guess Who.

of recording their official debut EP, “Minutes," splitting
time between The Institute of Production and Recording in downtown Minneapolis
and their dorm rooms in Middlebrook Hall. Early Eyes focus on community
building, socially aware event organization and are gaining a lot of traction

ABOUT THE SERIES...
Down by the Riverside is a free concert series that takes
place on Sunday nights in Mayo Park (behind the Mayo Civic Center) in
Rochester, MN during the months of July and August.
It has become a Rochester tradition, that on Sunday nights
in the summer, many of the citizens of Rochester and surrounding communities
put the finishing touches on their weekend by gathering together in the
friendly confines of Mayo Park; to laugh, dance, sing, relax, play, eat, drink,
socialize with friends and family, meet new friends, soak in those steamy
Minnesota summer nights; all to a soundtrack of "live" music
featuring local, national and international artists from a broad range of
genres and eras.
This summer will mark the 26th year the City's Music Department
(Riverside Concerts) has produced the popular outdoor concert series. This year's series will run July 9
through August 13; Sunday nights at 7:00 PM in Mayo Park.

We
would like to thank Think Mutual Bank, the title sponsor of the
Down by the Riverside Free Summer Concert Series. Without community minded
businesses like Think Mutual Bank, we would be unable to produce a concert
series of this magnitude, and would certainly not be able to offer it to the
public for free. Thank you, Think!
|
And a special thank you to the City of Rochester, the Rochester City Council, and YOU...the citizens of Southeastern Minnesota.
