Downtown Richfield Branding Survey

The City of Richfield is focusing on its downtown as part of a branding and placemaking project and we want to hear from you!

As part of the engagement for the project, we are launching an online survey to capture the thoughts of business owners, residents, and visitors. The short survey takes less than 10 minutes to complete.

The project is being led by CivicBrand, a nationally recognized consultant that specializes in community branding, placemaking, and engagement. Using the survey results, the team will identify common values and themes to create a shared vision of downtown and a strategy to achieve that vision. CivicBrand will develop a logo and branding materials and a plan for implementing the vision with targeted marketing and placemaking projects. 

The work is being funded through a grant from Hennepin County's Business Initiative Program.

Elevate Hennepin Small Business Loan Funds Available

As part of the Elevate Hennepin small business capital strategy, financing opportunities are available for small businesses. 

Sica Dawn, the first participant in the Elevate Hennepin Small Business Loans program, recently launched her business Open Hair Space in Richfield.  

“We wouldn’t be open without support from NextStage and the Elevate Hennepin Small Business Loans program,” she said. “Seriously, I have told so many people about this program. To say that you all helped us is such an understatement.” 

Elevate Hennepin advisors can assist businesses in preparations for accessing capital, including understanding common roadblocks business face when applying for loans. Elevate Hennepin advisor NextStage manages the loans for the Small Business Loan program.

Penn Avenue Safety Improvements

The City of Richfield is partnering with Hennepin County to improve safety and mobility on Penn Avenue between Highway 62 and 75th Street West. Reconstruction is planned for 2028, with community input helping shape the design in 2025-2026.

Share your experiences and ideas at the upcoming open house on Wednesday, August 20 from 4:30 to 7 p.m. at St. Richard Catholic Church (7540 Penn Avenue).

You can also share your input online:

• Take the survey to provide feedback and leave additional comments

Upcoming Closure of I-494

A full weekend closure of I-494 in both directions between Highway 100 and Highway 77 is scheduled for 10 pm, Friday, September 5 through 5 am, Monday, September 8.

Coming Soon!

The City of Richfield's Economic Development Authority approved the Richfield Economic Vibrancy, Investment, and Visual Enhancements (REVIVE) Program.

REVIVE is a new pilot program that will provide financial support to eligible businesses in making visual enhancements to their buildings and sites, encouraging revitalization of older commercial areas.

Stay tuned for more information when REVIVE is officially rolled out!
