Richfield Drives 25 kicks off in June
This summer, Richfield will be taking another step towards a safer community when local speed limits will be lowered to 25 miles per hour throughout the city.
Based on a decision by Richfield City Council in late 2023, Richfield’s residential roads will see a decrease in speed limits by 5 miles per hour (mph). The Richfield Drives 25 initiative will begin in earnest on June 25, when new speed limits go into effect.

As you prepare your yard, plan your gardens, and get new plants this spring, don’t forget to plant for clean water and pollinators! Native plants in yards have many benefits like supporting pollinators and native ecosystems, being resilient during flooding and drought, enhancing soil health, providing food for wildlife and stabilizing soil. Are you interested in protecting pollinators like the rusty patched bumble bee and the monarch butterfly? Lawns to Legumes gives cost-share grants of up to $400 to help cover the costs of planting pollinator-friendly yards. Learn more and apply by May 15!
*Before constructing a rain garden or stormwater infiltration basin, contact the water resources engineer to see whether your property is suitable for infiltration.
