Council approves 2024 taxy levy and budget
Last week, the city council voted to approve the 2024 tax levy and budget with a 5.98 percent increase over 2023's approved budget.
“If I had to use one word to summarize the 2024 budget, it would be progress,” reflected City Manager, Katie Rodriguez. “We’re making progress on needed improvements, from technology to infrastructure. We are making strides in our strategic priorities. We are supporting our staff and planning for their success. All of this progress will pay off as we serve our residents better in the years to come.”

How might you spend $250M?
The Metropolitan Council is asking residents to use an online tool where participants can pretend to allocate $250 million on transportation projects across various categories. These categories include traffic technology improvements, intersection improvements, increasing roadway capacity, bringing roadways up to current standards, bridge improvements, transit expansion, transit improvements, travel choice promotion, trails and bike facilities, pedestrian facilities, and safe routes to school.
Input from this exercise will be passed on to policymakers when they evaluate proposals for funding in 2024.
