Small Business Saturday is November 25
Small businesses are the backbone of our community--Richfield businesses provide jobs, boost the local economy, and bring vibrancy to our urban hometown.
In appreciation for Richfield's small businesses, the City Council has proclaimed November 25, 2023 as Small Business Saturday in Richfield and encourages residents to support local businesses on Small Business Saturday and throughout the year.
Mayor Mary Supple presented the Small Business Saturday proclamation to Richfield Chamber of Commerce President Kelsey Nagel at the November 14 City Council meeting.

Do you have a great business idea that you want to test out before launching?
CEO Start provides a free training opportunity for entrepreneurs
Applications are now open for CEO Start, a new opportunity in the CEO growth series from Elevate Hennepin.
CEO Start is open to anyone in Hennepin County with a great business idea. Participants will test their idea and validate their concept so they can build a viable business or understand why it might not work.
A group of 10 to 15 entrepreneurs will participate in a 10-week course to examine their ideas with peers through industry research, facilitated discussions and interviews with potential customers. Participants will leave the program with a deeper understanding of how to create a sustainable venture, articulate their models, and repeat the process with their next great idea.
Applications are being accepted through December 1.

Expanding Opportunity Fund
Sets the stage for future low-interest loans for small businesses
The Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development (DEED) has launched a new effort to support small businesses in Minnesota. The $10 million program will provide low-interest loans to small businesses.
DEED is now accepting applications from non-profit lenders interested in participating in the Expanding Opportunity Fund. Lenders can receive up to $600,000 at one time to provide low-interest loans to the small business owners they serve.
The fund will support entrepreneurs who have struggled to access capital through traditional bank loans and is designed to support historically under-funded small businesses operated by women, people of color, or in Greater Minnesota.
The non-profit lenders who are selected to participate in the Expanding Opportunity Fund will develop criteria and guidelines for considering and approving loans to small businesses.
Stay tuned! Once the loan programs are available to small businesses, we will share information in the Richfield Business Bulletin on how to apply.
