New trees coming to Richfield
Beginning this week, more than 200 new trees will be delivered to Richfield for planting on boulevards throughout the city and Roosevelt Park.
With input from the city forester, more than 20 different species will be planted with the goal of diversifying our urban forest. The plantings will include a variety of oak, crab apple, honeylocust trees, in addition to some ginko, beech and linden species.

Register now: Home Alone Safety Day, November 2
There are still openings for next week's Home Alone Safety Day! During this class, kids will discuss personal and home safety, internet safety, phone skills, fire safety, escape plans, severe weather, bike safety, snack ideas, appropriate activities and more! Students will create their own first aid kits and receive a multi-sport helmet, water bottle and backpack. Lunch will be provided.
This class is hosted by Richfield Community Education and the Richfield Police, Fire and Recreation Services departments.

Mayor for the Day contest
What would our cities look like if kids were in charge?
The Mayor for a Day Essay Contest is back to find out! To enter, fourth, fifth, and sixth graders can answer the prompt, “What would you do if you were mayor for a day?” for a chance to win $100 and recognition in Minnesota Cities magazine.

Volunteer to help your neighbors
Senior Community Services is recruiting now for fall leaf raking volunteers. Youth ages 7 to 15 may volunteer with an adult. Ages 16 and older may volunteer on their own. Get paired with a local community member and make a difference today!

Early voting continues
Early voting for the school district election continues! Normal voting hours are weekdays from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Extended voting hours will begin on November 4. This weekend: Last Farmers Market of the 2023 season
This Saturday from 8 a.m. to noon, stop by our final outdoor farmers market of the season. Shop with local farmers, chefs and artisans and help us finish the season strong! Save the date for our indoor winter markets will be held on December 2, December 9 and December 16.

County offers up to $15k available to remove lead from homes
Every year, an average of 200 children in Hennepin County are found to have high blood lead levels. In young children, lead exposure can lead to serious problems.
The government banned lead paint in 1978, but 75% of homes built before then can still contain lead paint. Hennepin County makes lead removal easier, affordable, and accessible through a variety of programs:

In case you missed it....Half Haunted Halloween was a hoot!
Thank you to the 1,545 visitors that attended our Half-Haunted Halloween party over the weekend! There was much laughing, dancing, candy, cookies, cocoa, and amazingly cute costumes! Fun was had by all! And an extra shout out to our 40 volunteers who helped put on such a great event!
