Check on your oak trees, Richfield
Richfield is home to one of the rarest Minnesota wildlife habitats: Oak Savanna. This habitat type is characterized by a prairie-like mix of grasses and wildflowers, dotted with large, widely-spaced oak trees. In Richfield, the oak trees that remain from these rare habitats are Bur oaks. These trees can be over 200 years old!
Unfortunately, bur oaks are being threatened by the two-lined chestnut borer. In recent years, the dry weather conditions in Minnesota have caused stress to oak trees, causing them to be more vulnerable to infection.
If you have an oak tree on your property, click the link below to learn more about how to inspect your tree for damage and what to do if you suspect it has been infected.

Garbage/recycling bin storage
Reminder that residents are required to properly store their garbage and recycling cans when not out for collection. In general, Richfield city code states that residents should store carts within an enclosed structure or in the rear or side yard of the home or garage. Carts may not be stored in front of any part of the main building on the property.
See the city code to view helpful diagrams to determine where you are allowed to store your garbage/recycling/organics bins.
