Despite recent rains, severe drought conditions persist throughout much of Minnesota. Residents can curtail their indoor and outdoor water consumption in many ways that won't affect your quality of life or the health of your outdoor landscape! Do your part to get us through the drought by conserving water wherever possible. You can also stay up to date on Minnesota’s drought conditions by visiting the US Drought Monitor.

Read-a-Story Theater a hit for young and old alike!
Have you heard of Richfield’s Read-A-Story Theater? This is a group of adults, many retired educators, who believe that reading is fundamental to learning. This group performs at schools and helps bring stories to life by providing lively performances filled with expression and enthusiasm. They draw from an extensive repertoire of stories to create a theater of imagination, providing a unique intergenerational experience and encouraging children to read their own stories with expression. Interested in joining or having the group visit with the children in your life?
Pickleball leagues wrap up summer sessions
The Richfield Adult Pickleball League ended last week with happy faces, new pickleball friendships and players asking for more! The league was Richfield’s first ever Pickleball League. Teams were able to have fun and work their way through a ladder system to play other teams with similar skills. Teams were also able to play in a year-end tournament that saw team “JK” win the championship medal for the beginner league and team “In a Bit of a Pickle” win the championship medal for the intermediate League. There has been wonderful feedback from our players and high hopes for a return of the league next summer!

In case you missed it....
Tuesday's City Council meeting saw a packed house in the council chambers, as local supporters joined in to commend Ron Cottone, Richfield's "Mr. Baseball," who began the Richfield Baseball Club in 1989 and was an important member of the Richfield Rockets until his death in 2022.
In addition, advocates from the Association for Non-Smokers MN brought a colorful pop of pink to the chambers with their t-shirts as they supported the council's recent ordinance amendment to eliminate the sale of flavored tobacco products from Richfield beginning on January 1, 2024.
