Celebrate Memorial Day
Next Monday marks Memorial Day in the United States. This federal holiday recognizes American veterans who have died while serving their country. The community will have two opportunities to come out and honor those who have died.

Flags for Fort Snelling Honor Roll, Saturday at 3 p.m.: For the second year in a row, Flags for Fort Snelling will be organizing an Honor Roll of motorcyclists to kick off the Memorial Day weekend. The motorcade will begin at 3 P.M. on Saturday in the ice arena/pool parking lot, travel to Fort Snelling, and return via 66th street. Come out and line 66th street to salute the riders and the veterans they honor.

Memorial Day Ceremony, Monday at 2 p.m.: The public is invited to honor and pay tribute to the service and sacrifice of our military veterans at the Honoring All Veterans Memorial Site (6429 Portland Ave). The ceremony will include a flyover by T-6 Thunder, unveiling of newly-engraved names, invocation by Father David Shaw, bugle by David Wall, a POW-MIA Ceremony by the Civil Air Patrol Cadets of the 130th Composite Squadron from Lakeville, and guest speaker Scott Egger, President of the National POW-MIA Riders Association. Participants should bring their own chairs.
Municipal buildings will also be closed on Monday, and Richfield Liquor stores will have limited hours from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Three Cheers for Public Works!
This week is National Public Works Week! From streets and sidewalks to water and sewers, public works is all around us, connecting our city and providing essential services. Thank you, thank you, thank you for all that you do!

Friday/Saturday Fun
This week is the debut of DOUBLE days of fun at Augsburg Adventure Park (7000 Nicollet Ave). We've got fun planned for Friday AND Saturday this week (May 26 and May 27, 10:00 am): a visit from Richfield Firefighters, who will host story hour.
It's also a Food Truck Friday on May 26. Augsburg Park will be visited by food trucks from Soul to Soul BBQ and Wonders Ice Cream!!

Bike to the Market day
This Saturday is Bike to the Market Day! Ride your bike to the farmers market this Saturday, and visit with your community and biking groups! Plus sign up for our Bike to the Market Club!
You can also take part in a family-friendly group ride opportunity, from Richfield Middle School to the Farmers Market. The ride leaves RMS at 8:30 a.m.

Save the Date: National Donut Day is June 2!
Join some of your friends from the Richfield Police Department and City Hall to celebrate one of the tastiest treats around! Free donuts will be handed out by city staff from 10 to 11 a.m. on Friday, June 2 at Augsburg Park near the Adventure Playground. Stay tuned for more details!

Go Gymnastics scores a perfect 10!
One of Recreation’s newest offerings, GO Gymnastics, wrapped up their most recent session. For kids ages 18 months-6 years, GO Gymnastics creates a safe and positive atmosphere to explore gymnastics. During each 5-week session, students work on basic tumbling, handstands, balance beam and more. Sessions are offered throughout the year and spots for summer are still available

In case you missed it....
Last week, the Joint Community Police Partnership, along with the Richfield Police Department, Partnership Academy, Three Rivers Park, Metro Transit, Target and Hennepin County Sheriff Office worked together to host a Fun Outside event. More than 90 middle school students from Partnership Academy participated in a bike rodeo, balance activities, fishing and more. Everyone enjoyed the good weather, ice cream, snacks and chances to win prizes.
