Richfield CSO credited with lifesaving efforts
Last week, Richfield Community Service Officer (CSO) Ethan Dahl was on patrol when he observed a vehicle in his rear-view mirror flashing its lights rapidly. The vehicle pulled over to the shoulder and stopped, so Dahl turned around to check on the situation. He came upon the driver, who had exited the vehicle and began to signal he was choking. CSO Dahl immediately aired his location and requested backup. He then successfully administered the Heimlich maneuver while waiting for additional medical services and was able to successfully clear the driver’s airway. The driver was eventually cleared by HCMC Paramedics on the scene.
CSO Dahl demonstrated great environmental awareness, clear and concise radio communications and lifesaving maneuvers in a medical emergency that required an immediate response. Thank you for your service, CSO Dahl!
