City of Richfield Snow Emergency Declared |
|
Three-day Snow Emergency begins tonight
In anticipation of the predicted historic snowfall, the City of Richfield will declare a Snow Emergency beginning at 12 a.m. on Wednesday, February 22 and lasting until 5 p.m. on Friday, February 24.
Our plowing crew plan to cover the city at least four times over the coming days to remove snow and ensure access for emergency vehicles. Cleanup from this storm will likely last into next week.
During the Snow Emergency:
- On-street parking is prohibited. Vehicles must be moved off the streets, as soon as possible once the Snow Emergency is declared.
- If you need a place to park your car, Richfield has Snow Emergency Parking Areas designated on the east and southeast sides of town (see map below).
- Help our Emergency Responders by shoveling around fire hydrants in your area.
During this long-term snow event, consider checking in on vulnerable neighbors or offering extra parking spaces to those who rely on on-street parking. Our community is strongest when we work together.
A special note about garbage and recycling carts: Please make sure trash and recycling carts are placed in the driveway apron or in the boulevard and NOT in the street. Garbage truck arms can reach at least 3 feet and will be able to access your trash can from its spot in the driveway. If delays in trash/recycling pickup occur, notifications will be sent out to households from their haulers directly.
