HRA seeks development partner for regional destination
One of Richfield’s largest and last-standing redevelopment parcels will soon be up for grabs as the city begins the process of looking for a future development partner and landowner. The 3.7 acre property, located in the northwest corner of I-494 and Highway 77 (Cedar Avenue), is the result of decades of work and a unique public-private partnership.
“The city first acquired property as part of the 77th street underpass project back in 2000 and has been working on funding the project ever since,” noted Melissa Poehlman, Community Development Director. “Just as tunnel construction finally commenced, long-time Richfield business, Metro Sales, decided to consolidate operations and donated a portion of its land to the city’s Housing and Redevelopment Authority. They also expressed a desire to partner on the future redevelopment with the parcel they still own.”

RPD welcomes newest social worker, Jill DeMars
Late last year, Jill DeMars joined the Richfield Police Department as the newest Police Embedded Social Worker for the city. In her role with the police department, DeMars will assist officers and other staff with connecting community members with services and referrals and offering support to those in need. The goal of the embedded social worker program is to connect individuals with services and support and to reduce the need for additional calls for service.
Prior to joining RPD, DeMars worked closely with police in her role as social worker for Carver and Ramsey counties. She lives in Delano with her family and enjoys needlepoint and antiquing in her spare time.

A request for $12 million in the state bonding Bill is before the Minnesota State Legislature. We are excited for Wood Lake's future and proud how this nature center has brought the community together around nature for over 50 years.
