Happy New Year!
On Saturday, more than 1,900 people from around the metro attended the 2022 Candlelight and Ice event at Wood Lake Nature Center. Families walked luminary trails, roasted marshmallows at outdoor fire pits, enjoyed hot cocoa and laughed with their families. Inside the nature center, people met snakes and tied wishes to the event Wishing Tree. The Brick Oven Bus food truck also stood out as a bright spot during the evening, serving up scores of hot Neapolitan pizzas to folks eagerly waiting in line.
The staff at Wood Lake Nature Center thanks everyone who helped make the event a success: volunteers, the animal ambassadors, Starry Skies North, Steve Schneeberger, the Friends of Wood Lake, Lakewinds Food Co-op and all the plants and animals of the park that call this place home. Thank you, thank you, thank you! It was a wonderful night, and we wish everyone health, peace and joy in the New Year!
Event organizers ask anyone who attended to take a brief survey to provide feedback for next year!

If you were not, please make sure your hauler has your correct contact information.
Aspen carried over some Wednesday pick-ups to Thursday morning. All affected residents should have been notified. If your carts are not emptied at their usual time, please leave them out.

Adopt a hydrant!
Help your firefighters by clearing your neighborhood hydrant of snow. The hydrant belongs to the whole community, not just the curb is sits on .
The Richfield FD recommends a three foot radius around the hydrant to give our firefighters enough room to work. Your help will ensure that our FD can get to work during an emergency instead of being tied up clearing a hydrant.

Family Dome Day a lifesaver during frigid cold
On December 30, more than 60 people were thrilled to play on the indoor turf field at the Holy Angels dome. Recreation staffers brought along footballs, soccer balls, sensory activities, frisbee golfing and beanbag equipment, and kids enjoyed stretching their legs on the turf field as well. The next Dome Days event will be held on January 27 from 9:30 - 11:30 a.m.

Sake sale this month at Richfield Liquor
Richfield Municipal Liquor is trying something new this month! Instead of featuring a wine, this month all Sake products will be 15 percent off. Sake is an alcoholic beverage of Japanese origin made by fermenting rice that has been polished to remove the bran. Sake is produced by a brewing process much like that of beer. Try one today!
