Richfield's passport office earns kudos
The Richfield passport team has been acknowledged by the Minneapolis Regional Passport Agency for their diligent and precise work. With more than 3,300 applications processed in 2022, the agency found no errors in Richfield's submitted documents. The team was also recognized for helping secure passports for the Minnesota Vikings employees who traveled to London earlier this fall. Way to go, Richfield!

De-construction pilot project a success
Last year, the HRA purchased the property with the plan to remove the existing substandard home and market the lot for redevelopment under the Richfield Rediscovered Program. Through a grant offered by Hennepin County, the HRA contracted with Better Futures Minnesota to de-construct the house. “Deconstruction” is an environmentally friendly and cost-effective alternative to typical demolition. The process involves carefully removing components of the home piece by piece, so the materials can be recycled, repurposed, or reused, instead of being sent to a landfill. Once all materials that can be salvaged are removed, the remainder of the foundation will be demolished.

Fall Boutique draws more than 600 visitors
Last weekend, the community center hosted the 45th annual Fall Boutique. Over 30 booths filled both floors of the Community Center, offering handmade crafts, fine art and giftable foods. Nearly 600 visitors attended the event and enjoyed shopping, kid’s crafts, a fall selfie station, complimentary face painting, live music and the Soul to Soul BBQ food truck. Each child received a treat bag or toy, and every 50th person received a door prize: their choice of a water bottle, handmade clock, coffee gift bag, or cake gift bag.
This annual event raises money for senior craft & quilting groups based out of the Community Center.
