A perfect weekend for the Urban Wildland Half Marathon and 5k
Last weekend, more than 1,000 runners participated in the 20th Urban Wildland Half Marathon and 5k. These runners represented 24 states, and 107 Minnesota cities. The weather was beautiful, and the race course showcased the best of Richfield.
Four runners, who have completed all 20 races, were also recognized as Race Marshalls for their commitment to the Urban Wildland Half Marathon. Thank you to Mike, Darrell, Nicole and John for your dedication to our race and Wood Lake Nature Center.
Finally, a huge thank you to the city staff for their hard work and to the 200 volunteers who spent their Saturday organizing food and water, monitoring intersections and cheering on the runners. We couldn't have done it without you!

Spread the news: Call 9-8-8 for help
On July 16, a new nationwide hotline for mental health crisis was launched. Calling or texting 9-8-8 will now connect people with a trained crisis specialist through the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline. People can also dial or text 9-8-8 if they are worried about a loved one who may need crisis support. The Lifeline provides direct assistance in both English and Spanish.

Boulevard or park tree down in a storm?
Earlier this week, high winds took down many trees, limbs and branches in Richfield's boulevards and parks. When this happens, residents are asked to contact the city through the online form to report the issue. Crews will be out as soon as possible after a storm to clear streets and ensure the public's safety.
Currently, the city is no longer accepting tree debris from private properties. If you have yard waste that needs disposing, please see the link below for local options.

Employers: Take a survey and earn a chance at $200!
Commuter Services invites Richfield employers to take a short survey, open through August 9. Feedback from this survey will provide greater insight into how telework and hybrid work are being utilized, and help the 494 Corridor Commission plan resources, programs, and events to encourage sustainable commuting.
Employers who complete the survey can be entered into a drawing for one of two $200 VISA gift cards.
