Prevent catalytic converter theft with CATGUARD
The police department is now participating in Minnesota’s Catalytic Converter Theft Prevention pilot program. The program helps residents register and mark their catalytic converters to deter theft and connect police to victims of the crime.
CatGuard marking kits will be available at the Richfield Police Department front desk during business hours. Interested residents should come to the police department and be prepared to use their smart phone to complete the registration. Once registered, they will receive a marking kit to install on their vehicle.
Local auto shops are also aiding the cause by assisting those who are unable to install the label themselves.

'Bike with a Cop' event a success
Last Friday, more than 100 people joined Richfield police officers and leadership at the 'Bike with the Cop' event at Veterans Park. This event served to inspire Richfield families to stay active and provided a fun opportunity to connect with local law enforcement. Participants were able to work on bike safety skills, learn bike riding basics with instructors, take a short ride around the park with officers or a longer 3.5 mile ride out to Taft Park.
Helmets were distributed and properly fitted, snacks consumed and door prizes awarded to riders.
Thank you to all the vendors and volunteers who made this evening possible!
