Outdoor pool opens Friday
Richfield's beloved outdoor pool will kick off its 61st season this Friday at its location in Veterans Park. The facility features a zero-depth-entry children's wading pool with water play equipment, a 50-meter main pool with wheelchair access ramp, double waterslide, one-meter diving boards and two 25-yard lap lanes. The concession stand has a wide variety of food and beverages and features a sit-down area with umbrella-covered tables.
Season passes are still available, and can be purchased on-site or online.
The pool is open daily from 12:00 - 7:00 p.m., with earlier hours available for toddler time and lap swimming.

Highway 77: Weekend road & ramp closures
This weekend, various sections and access points to Highway 77 will be closed. While not directly impacting Richfield's stretch of Highway 77, please keep in mind that access nearby may be limited or altered.
Expect local congestion from these closures, especially on 66th Street. Residents may want to consider alternative east-west routes, such as 70th Street, 73rd Street to Diagonal Blvd, or 77th Street.
Closures at Hwy 77/Hwy 62 are expected to last through the end of June.

Sad, but true: Veterans Park boardwalk removal
Next week, the boardwalk at Veterans Park will be removed due to safety, environmental and accessibility concerns.
Plans are being considered with the Community Services Commission and City Council to replace the amenity with an accessible wildlife viewing platform or similar structure.
Until its removal, staff advises visitors to take alternative routes around the park.

Frontline worker pay
To thank those Minnesotans who worked on the frontlines during the COVID-19 peacetime emergency, Gov. Tim Walz signed Frontline Worker Payments into law April 29, 2022, enabling those workers to apply for Frontline Worker Pay.
Eligibility is based on both work requirements, job sector and household income. Applications are now open and can be submitted through July 22, 2022. Payments are anticipated in early fall.
