Fillmore bids farewell after nearly 41 years
If you've been to a Richfield Liquor store, you know that customer service and a commitment to the community comes first. Much of that can be attributed to Liquor Operations Director, Bill Fillmore, who retires from his post on May 27, after nearly 41 years with the City of Richfield.
And it all started with a cup of coffee and a friendly face.
“It was my first big interview, and I had traveled up from Chicago,” remembered Bill Fillmore, Liquor Operations Director. “One of the women that worked the front desk offered me a cup of coffee and a word of encouragement, and I knew that I wanted to work for an organization with people like her.”

Ruth Evangelista honored by City Council
Ruth knows the data. Access to quality early childhood care and education, particularly for communities who traditionally have not received support, lasts into adulthood. That is why in 2013, Ruth founded La RED Latina de Educación Temprana (the Latino Early Child Care Provider Network). The simple vision of the organization was for “happy and educated children.”
Because of her amazing work with and in the community, earlier this year Ruth received the Virginia McKnight Binger Unsung Hero Award. On May 24, in recognition of all her work, Ruth was honored by the city council.
The City of Bloomington recently produced a short video covering Ruth's amazing work.

Vehicle Day a great success!
Richfield Recreation sends out a big THANK YOU to everybody who participated in Vehicle Day last weekend. Richfield was represented by vehicles from the fire, police, and public works departments, as well as school buses from Richfield Public Schools and Academy of Holy Angels. Over 2,500 people attended the event, which was presented by the cities of Richfield and Edina, and the owner of Southdale, Simon Properties. The excitement on the kids’ faces always makes this a favorite event for families and staff alike. Thank you to all of the staff who spent their Saturday morning creating priceless memories for the community.
