Minnesota Department of Revenue

The Minnesota Department of Revenue is sending letters to about 7,700 clients who were affected by state tax law changes enacted on May 30, 2019. We have included a copy of the letter with this email.

Why is the department contacting clients?

We are automatically adjusting 2017 and 2018 Minnesota income tax returns affected by the 2019 tax law changes. If your clients have not received an adjustment from us, they may file amended 2017 and 2018 returns incorporating the law changes.

If a client’s adjustment will result in a refund, they can file an amended return to receive the refund sooner. When completing Form M1X, include an explanation where the changes came from and how you determined the new amounts.

Questions? See our July 28 email for more information. You may also contact us.
