Quarterly Return and Deposit Due Dates

  • The Minnesota quarterly withholding tax return is due July 31, 2020, for the second quarter (April - June 2020)
  • Deposits were due according to your semiweekly or monthly deposit schedule.
    • Exception – Your deposit is due July 31, 2020 if both of these apply:
      • You withheld $1,500 or less of Minnesota withholding tax in the first quarter (January - March 2020)
      • You filed first quarter’s withholding return on time

For details on filing and depositing, see the Minnesota Income Tax Withholding Instruction Booklet.

Did you know?

Beginning in 2020, federal Form W-4 no longer uses withholding allowances to determine withholding. Minnesota Form W-4MN, Minnesota Employee Withholding Allowance/Exemption Certificate, continues to use withholding allowances.

Employees must complete a new Form W-4MN if either of these apply in 2020:

  • They are a new employee
  • They changed their Form W-4

If employees do not complete a new Form W-4MN, employers must withhold at the single rate with zero allowances. For more information, see our Form W-4MN webpage.
