Minnesota Department of Revenue

The Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act and the Families First Coronavirus Response (FFCRA) Act passed by Congress in March included several federal tax law changes. The Minnesota Department of Revenue is reviewing the state-level impacts of these changes.

No action was taken during the 2020 legislative session in response to these federal changes. We are working to adjust tax forms to reflect the impact of the CARES Act and FFCRA Act. We will have more information soon on when our forms will be available and where to report adjustments.

Under current Minnesota law, if you have to amend your federal return due to CARES or FFCRA Acts, you will have to amend your Minnesota return. You must file the amended Minnesota return no later than 180 days after the federal amended return is filed.

We encourage you to monitor our website for additional updates. For the latest information about tax law changes and form updates, subscribe to our Tax Law Change email updates.
