MinnesotaCare Payment Grace Period
The Minnesota Department of Revenue will grant a 30-day payment grace period for MinnesotaCare monthly estimated payments due May 15, 2020. There will be no penalty and interest on these estimated payments if they are made by June 15, 2020. This grace period is automatic and applies to Provider Tax, Hospital Tax, Surgical Center Tax, Wholesale Drug Distributor Tax, and Legend Drug Use Tax.
The previously announced 60-day MinnesotaCare monthly and quarterly estimated payment grace period for payments that were originally due April 15, 2020, is still in effect. There will be no penalty and interest on these payments if they are made by June 15, 2020.
Providers who requested a 60-day filing extension for their annual 2019 MinnesotaCare returns that were due March 16, 2020, must still file their annual return by May 15, 2020.
In addition to the above relief, providers may ask us to cancel or reduce penalties, additional tax charges, and interest for late filing or payment if they have a reasonable cause or are negatively affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. See Abatement Information for Businesses.
