It’s National Small Business Week. The Minnesota Department of Revenue is highlighting the online resources available to business owners throughout the week.

As a tax professional, you may assist businesses with filing and paying their taxes in e-Services. You also want to protect yourself from any potential fraudulent activity that could occur when sharing a username and password with someone.

Third-party access gives you convenient and secure online access to your customer’s tax accounts.

Why should I use it?

With third-party access, you can:

  • Keep it simple: Manage all accounts using one username and password
  • Protect yourself: You are only accountable for the actions you take
  • Reduce storage: Reduce your amount of stored client data

What are the benefits for my customers?

With third-party access, your customers can:

  • Limit access: Control and limit each user’s access and abilities for each account
  • Limit liability: Track all actions in e-Services by username
  • Protect themselves from fraud: Decrease their risk of potential fraudulent activity

Note: You can also give your customers this Third-Party Access Handout for additional information.

How do I do it?

Go to www.revenue.state.mn.us and type third-party access in the Search box to get started.
