Join the Save Food, Spend Less Challenge

What would you do with an extra few thousand dollars? The average family of four spends about $58 a week on food they end up throwing away. The Save Food, Spend Less Challenge will help improve your skills in cooking, planning, shopping and storage to save time, money, and resources.

Enjoy safe backyard fires this fall

Help protect your health and your neighbors’ health by enjoying safe backyard fires this season. Outdoor recreational fires contribute to fine-particle air pollution, which can enter the lungs and bloodstream and worsen existing health conditions.

Ask EH: Where can I take household hazardous waste and electronics?

A: Drop off household hazardous waste and electronics at the Ramsey County Environmental Center for free.

Residents can also pick up paint, automotive products, household cleaners, camp stove fluid and more for free at the Reuse Room. The Reuse Room is part of the Environmental Center and offers items that were dropped off for disposal that are in good condition and still have product left.

Kitchen hack: Freeze extra produce

Prepare and freeze extra produce to use in soups, hot dishes and other warm meals this fall. Follow best practices for safely storing and preserving food at home.

Get asthma support from Ramsey County. This includes a home visit from an environmental health specialist and a public health nurse to help identify environmental triggers and provide individualized asthma education.
Ramsey County School Supply Swap rehomes gently-used supplies. Over 400 community members attended the three-day event in August, taking home more than 1,500 pounds of donated school supplies.
