As we come together to celebrate the spirit of independence, community, and resilience that defines the Fourth of July, let us also reflect on the freedoms we cherish, and the work that still lies ahead to ensure liberty and justice for all. Whether you're attending a local parade, enjoying a backyard cookout, or simply taking a well-earned day of rest, I hope this holiday brings you joy, connection, and continued efforts and dedication to the preservation of our democracy!

My office is always here to answer your questions and navigate government services. Please feel free to reach out via phone at 651-266-8359 or email us at Maryjo.McGuire@co.ramsey.mn.us

Honoring the Hortman's

new

Melissa and Mark Hortman's children, Sophie and Colin, listed ways to honor their parents and asked the public to add their own. This was posted at Roseville Rosefest.

The events of June 14 have left the nation reeling with heartbreak and grief. The tragic and senseless loss of House Speaker Melissa Hortman and her husband, Mark, has created an immeasurable void for all who knew them and by the countless lives they touched through their shared dedication to public service. Melissa led with conviction, compassion, and unwavering purpose. She and Mark lived a life grounded in hope and community, and their absence will continue to be felt profoundly.

My thoughts also remain with my friend Senator John Hoffman and his wife, Yvette, as they recover from their injuries from this tragic event.

On Saturday, I had the solemn honor of attending the private funeral for Melissa and Mark at the Basilica of St. Mary. It was a deeply moving tribute, with family, friends, and leaders from across the nation, including President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris. As we mourn, I take comfort in the strength of our community. Let's keep one another close and carry forward the example Melissa and Mark set, with purpose, kindness, and resolve.
