Make sure your house is lead safe
Make sure your house is lead safe for you and your loved ones. National Lead Poisoning Prevention Week (Oct. 20 – 26) raises awareness of the importance of preventing, identifying and mitigating sources of lead exposure. The most common source of lead exposure is paint and dust on windows in homes built before 1978. If you think your child has been exposed to lead, contact your healthcare provider to schedule a blood lead test.
Grant money is available through Ramsey County to reduce lead hazards in qualifying homes.

Tips to avoid a long wait at yard waste sites
Ramsey County yard waste sites experience heavy traffic during the fall. To avoid a wait, consider the following tips:
- Visit yard waste sites on Mondays, Wednesdays or Fridays. Avoid the first hour of opening since there is almost always a rush. If you need to go on a weekend, Saturday mornings between 9:30 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. can be less busy.

Ask EH: How do I dispose of broken string lights?
A: Non-LED string lights may be placed in the trash. LED string lights cannot go in the trash because they contain printed circuit boards and are considered hazardous. Bring LED string lights to a household hazardous waste collection site for free.
