During July 9th's Board of Commissioners meeting, Christina Rost was sworn in as the new Veteran Services Director. Prior to this role, Rost served as the interim department director and as a veteran services officer for the County. Congratulations Christina, we look forward to continuing to work with you!
The Ramsey County Veteran Services Department works to guide veterans, their dependents, and survivors through federal, state, and local benefit applications and processes. They can help veterans with healthcare benefits, filing claims for compensation and pensions, and more. Visit their website for more information here. The Board of Commissioners declared July 2024 as Disability Pride Month. This month is meant to recognize all Ramsey County residents that have a disability and their diverse, intersectional identities. You can read the proclamation here or visit the Ramsey County website to learn more here.

The Star Tribune recently shared an article on the work conducted by employees and volunteers at the Metropolitan Mosquito Control District (MMCD). Workers will purposefully expose their skin to the little bugs in order to capture them for research and data tracking. To read the full article, click here. Not sure how to dispose of a specific item? Or maybe you don't know if something can be recycled? Check out the Ramsey County A-Z Green Guide! Search up the item you would like to throw out, and the guide will provide options for proper disposal. You can also find helpful tips for recycling and trash such as:
1. Don't flatten your cans when you throw them out.
2. Batteries should not be thrown out in your trash, but instead taken to a hazardous waste disposal site.
3. You can donate your old, clean mattresses to several different organizations.
4. You should make sure to sweep up fertilizer from sidewalks and driveways, so it doesn't contaminate nearby lakes and ponds.

In 2025, County Road D between Greenbriar Street and County Road D Circle will be reconstructed. The aim is to install a trail along the road, reconstructing aging pavement and installing an improved storm drain system.
