Subject: The Fair Housing Implementation Council (FHIC) RFP for Fair Housing Activities

Greetings!

Please see information below regarding an RFP available for Fair Housing Activities through the Fair Housing Implementation Council (FHIC).

RFP for Fair Housing Activities – Applications Open Now!

The Fair Housing Implementation Council (FHIC) requests proposals from any qualified agency, nonprofit or community organization related to the Fair Housing activities identified in its 2020 Analysis of Impediments to Fair Housing Choice (AI). Applications close on June 10 at 4:30 PM.

The FHIC is looking for applications to respond to these associated strategies. The proposed activities should work to address at least one or both of the following fair housing goals and strategies identified:

  • Goal 3: Support homeownership for households of color.

Examples may include, but not limited to:

    • Conduct homebuyer and financial literacy education targeted at communities of color.
    • Conduct credit counseling and improvement programs targeted at communities of color.
    • Provide stewardship programming (e.g., educational training on home maintenance) for low-to-moderate income homeowners.
  • Goal 6: Ensure equal access to housing for persons with protected characteristics, lower-income, and homeless.

Examples may include, but not limited to:

    • Provide translation services for federally funded programs across the metropolitan area (e.g., translate city rehab program or rental assistance applications to Spanish, Hmong, Somali, Karen and other represented languages).
    • Hold legal services, eviction prevention and other educational activities across the metropolitan area.
    • Conduct fair housing training for landlords and renters.

The FHIC has a total of $100,000 available for activities proposed as a response to this RFP. Proposals will be collected in an online Zoom Grants application from Monday, April 29 to Monday, June 10, 2024 at 4:30 PM.
