Recycling Exists campaign shows recycled items become new products

Recycling in the Twin Cities is real, and it works. Your recycled items become new products when you recycle right.

Food: Too good to waste

Staying on top of the food that you buy can be challenging, but did you know that over 30% of all food grown in the U.S. never gets eaten, and most of this waste is created by households?

This costs a four-person family an average of $1,500 per year.

Fortunately, it only takes a little knowledge and a few simple steps to make a big impact.

Compost bin sale - save $20

The Recycling Association of Minnesota is selling compost bins for $76 plus tax this year before the discount. Ramsey County residents can receive a $20 discount. Order online at RecycleMinnesota.org and enter promo code “Ramsey.”

2024 Recycling Guide coming soon to your mailbox

Keep an eye out for the 2024 Recycling Guide! The guide is packed with information on recycling, food scraps, yard waste, household hazardous waste, reuse and more. It should land in your mailbox by the end of March. Put the guide in a handy spot to reference throughout the year.

Ask EH: How do I dispose of shredded documents?

A: Ramsey County residents can shred confidential documents and recycle shredded paper at the Washington County Environmental Center for free. Shredded paper can also be put in the trash.

Shredded paper is not accepted in household recycling or food scraps collection.

Heads up! Collection site hours for yard waste and household hazardous waste switch to regular hours starting April 1.
The April mobile household hazardous waste collection site is Fridays and Saturdays at Aldrich Arena. Dispose of hazardous products and batteries starting April 5.
Coming in April: Trade in your car seat at Target. Look for more information posted on Target's website in April.
