U.S. Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack visited the Rice Street WIC (Women, Infants and Children) clinic, Feb. 1, for a tour and a stakeholders meeting. He met with program participants, public health leaders, staff and community partners to hear about WIC services in the county.
Board Chair Trista Martinson and health leaders later joined Secretary Vilsack at a news conference to call on Congress to fully fund WIC in 2024. Current funding will not cover all eligible participants for the supplemental food, nutrition and breastfeeding program.
