Lots of activities happening in the community these past few weeks. Here's a sampling...
Congratulations to Zeus on the opening of their new catheter manufacturing facility in Arden Hills! I had the opportunity to tour the facility during their grand opening celebration last week and learn more about the important work they do in the medical device field.
I attended the Heat's On Kick-Off Breakfast this weekend and got to meet some of the volunteers who participate in this great event. Heat’s On is a volunteer effort that was started in 1986 to service and repair the furnaces of elderly, disabled, and low-income homeowners. A BIG thank you to all of the volunteer union pipefitters from Minneapolis & St. Cloud Local #539, St. Paul Local #455 and Rochester Local #6 who took part in this year's event!
I attended the Community Action Partnership Cultural Fair this weekend. The event included a celebration of cultural backgrounds with dances and Asian, Somali, and Hispanic street foods.
Check out this short video from KSTP Channel 5 about the event.
Commissioner Moran, Representative Moller, Councilmember Fabel, and I spoke with House Capital Investment Committee members at a bonding tour stop at Rice Creek Commons
State Senators learned more about the Rice Creek Commons site during a bonding tour visit
Last week, members of the Minnesota House Capital Investment Committee stopped by the Rice Creek Commons site as part of their bonding tour, and members of the Senate Capital Investment Committee visited the site earlier today. Local elected officials spoke with the group about the importance of this development and the need to get things moving after years of delay.
I'm hopeful that legislators recognize the value of this development - not just for Arden Hills but for the entire region - and will include funding for it in next year's bonding bill.
