Children's Environmental Health Day: Oct. 12
Children’s Environmental Health Day increases visibility for children’s environmental health issues. An estimated 34% of children's chronic illnesses and developmental challenges are caused by environmental factors. Environmental hazards are disproportionately concentrated among communities of color due to enduring, pervasive racist policies like redlining.
Improving our children’s health depends on righting these environmental injustices. Together, we can build a healthier, safer, more equitable future for all children. Learn more.

National Lead Poisoning Prevention Week: Oct. 23 - 29
Make sure your house is lead safe for you and your loved ones. National Lead Poisoning Prevention Week (Oct. 23 – 29) raises awareness of the importance of preventing, identifying and mitigating sources of lead exposure. The most common source of lead exposure is paint and dust on windows in homes built before 1978. If you think your child has been exposed to lead, contact your healthcare provider to schedule a blood lead test.
Grant money is available through Ramsey County to reduce lead hazards in qualifying homes. Learn more.
